Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy

What is EMDR?

EMDR uses a patient's own rapid, rhythmic eye movements to dampen the power of emotionally charged memories of past traumatic events.

This process involves your therapist moving their fingers back and forth in front of your face. You will be asked to follow these hand motions with just your eyes. While doing this your therapist will ask for you to recall a disturbing event, including the emotions and bodily sensations that go along with the memory.

Your therapist will gradually guide you to shift your thoughts to more pleasant ones. This helps lessen the distress disturbing memories cause.

Experience EMDR for yourself.
